There are few things I hate more than going to the dentist. In fact, going to the dentist might be high atop the list of Things That Make Me Want To Run and Hide. Why do I hate the dentist so much? Oh, it could be the clean-scraping inside of my mouth that feels like the hygienist is scraping the insides of my brain. Or, maybe it's the whole having to hold your mouth open and do that swallow thing with the back of your tongue which makes you kind of choke on your own saliva.
Whatever it is, I detest the dentist but I go because, well, that's part of being an adult and something you have to do if you want to keep your teeth from rotting out of your head. So I'm told. I'm also a mom which means I have to set good examples in life. Examples like, don't run with scissors, play nice with friends and go to the dentist so he can make sure you brush all of the sugar bugs from your teeth each day.
I'm always on the lookout for products that I can use at home that will not only keep my teeth and oral health in tip top shape, but products that will also make that bi-annual dreaded dentist appointment bearable. As in, no scraping and drilling inside my brain-feeling.
We all know that brushing and flossing isn't enough when it comes to proper oral care and that we should always be using a mouth rinse for optimum benefit. If it were up to me, I would still be using that bubblegum flavored rinse from my childhood, the one that came in that nifty little squeeze bottle with the self-filling cap but since I'm a grown adult with a grown up mouth, grown up mouth rinse is a necessity.
My dentist recently suggested Crest Pro-Health Tartar Protection Rinse since it's the only mouth wash on the market with both anti-cavity and anti-tartar benefits in one without the burn of other popular mouth rinses. I've always been a fan of Crest products, specifically their 3D White toothpaste and Whitestrips so I decided to give it a try.
Dr. Travis Stork, that dashingly handsome tall guy and board-certified emergency medicine physician on the show The Doctors, has recently partnered with Crest and Oral-B Pro-Health to help others understand that a healthy mouth is part of a healthy body. My dentist is currently pushing seventy but if Dr. McCutie says it's a good idea too, sign me up.
Dr. Stork not only maintains that we should invest in good oral care but also stay active, eat healthy and waste no time in making small changes that will better ourselves and our bodies in the future. Isn't that how the saying goes... "happy mouth, happy life?"
After a few weeks of rinsing twice daily with Crest Pro-Health Tartar Protection Rinse, my mouth feels cleaner and believe it or not, my teeth are less sensitive to cold beverages like smoothies and, let's be honest, slushy summertime margaritas.
This makes sense since Crest Pro-Health Tartar Protection rinse freshens breath, fights unwanted surface stains and strengthens weakened enamel. You can purchase your own bottle in drug stores, mass retailers nationwide and on crestprohealth.com for around $5.49.
$5.49 for less scraping and brain-drilling at the dentist each time? For a healthier mouth and a healthier me, setting a healthier example for my kids to follow?
Seems more than worth it to me!
