What's that saying about having kids... the days are long but the years are short?
Well, in the dead heat of mid-July, the days feel even longer than long. As little boys will tend to do, mine have bucket loads of energy. The kind of energy that must not be contained within the walls of a house each day unless one is willing to lose their minds trying to tame it by playing just one more game of "no, don't climb on that you'll crack your head open."
It's to avoid those moments that we spend much of our mornings and expend much of that restless boy energy outside before the weight of the hot heat settles in for the day and we are practically strangled by the humidity.
As a matter of fact, we have a standing morning play date at the park with our neighborhood friends that I look forward to each day. It's what gets me through the chaos of breakfast and the early morning can't believe it's only 9am feelings. After our play date, often times we'll head back to the house to cool off with an ice cold drink and, if I'm being completely honest, donut holes.
Recipe:
Mix the following ingredients together in a blender:
1 box Mango Fruttare fruit bars, sliced from the stick
1 cup strawberries, fresh or frozen
1 cup skim milk
3 tbsp half and half
(to thicken, add handful of ice cubes if desired)
For the "fizz" add 1.5 cups Club Soda. It will fizz and foam up a lot. Allow soda to settle before pulsing the blender a few times to mix thoroughly. Garnish with fresh fruit skewer and enjoy!

In an effort to clean up our cool down snack time routine, I recently whipped up this delicious Mango-berry Fizz featuring Fruttare fruit bars that was a hit all around. It's the perfect part sweet and refreshing, bursting with real fruit juice, and just the right amount of fizz that has you forgetting all about that suffocating humidity in no time. The freezer case at our local Safeway was chock full of delicious flavors- I had a hard time choosing just which ones I would bring home. For this treat you'll need Mango but somehow even a box of Coconut and Milk fruit bars jumped into my cart, too! These Fruttare fruit bars are sold in many stores nationwide so you shouldn't have much trouble picking them up!

Whether you're looking for a new summer treat to enjoy poolside with family and friends or to cool down with after a sticky, sweaty play date with the neighborhood kids, I would absolutely suggest Fruttare fruit bars. Whether you decide to enjoy them straight from the stick or creatively in a fizzy fruit smoothie is up to you! Happy Summer!
