18 Bottle Wine Cooler Review Air-N-Water AW-180E

This is sponsored review content in partnership with Air-N-Water.

Free standing wine coolers are an important addition to the home of any wine lover. Not only do they offer extra space to store bottles but they also do so safely and at the perfect temperature.

Before I met my husband, I knew very little about wine. I knew I liked to drink it and I knew I preferred white over red but I was unaware at just how fragile certain blends and certain vintages could be when not stored at the correct temperature. Store my bottles upright in the fridge? Sure, why not? Keep them chilled to whatever degree the refrigerator was set to? Sounds good to me! Chill the Chardonnay right next to the Chianti? Don't mind if I do!

Little did I know what disservice I was doing to the wines in my possession.

Not all wine should be stored at the same temperature. Improper storage affects the flavor of the wine and if you are a true wine enthusiast, you want to thoroughly enjoy the many facets of your wine.

Utilizing a free standing wine cooler allows you to do just this by giving you complete control over the temperature of your wine. Personally, I like to use the 18 Bottle Wine Cooler from NewAir to keep my white wines chilled and readily available. You'll notice that I have both red and white wine in this fridge and that was done for the sole purpose of showing you how the unit would look with numerous bottles of wine inside. Because this unit is not a dual zone unit, we do keep various blends of our favorite red wines chilled in a separate wine fridge that accommodates dual temperature zones.

Upon setting up this wine cooler, I was initially impressed by the sturdy chrome shelving and the ease with which the shelves slid in and out of the cooler. User friendly push buttons and soft blue-hued lighting make adjusting the temperature of the unit very simple.

All NewAir beverage cooling systems use environmentally friendly thermo-electric technology. This is very important when chilling wine! The unit is never loud nor does it use harsh coolants to maintain the desired temperature. It also doesn't use vibration to cool the wine which keeps sediment from settling on the bottom of the bottle.

Set up was easy. The unit arrived fully assembled, with only the handle to attach. It was an easy task to manage with a simple screwdriver and a little elbow grease. Within an hour of being plugged in the cooler reached the desired 58 degree temperature setting. As mentioned above, the unit is basically silent. With the normal din of our household (three kids and a dog) additional noise was undetectable. That said, if it was to be run in a completely quiet setting, a slight "hum" would be detected. I also noticed over the course of a few days that the unit appears to continuously run as opposed to cycling on and off.

I cannot speak much to the reliability of the unit as it has only been in my possession now for a few months but during the course of those months, I have experienced zero issues with the cooler's performance. It has been a great addition to our kitchen and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend NewAir to anyone interested in purchasing a wine or other beverage cooler. This type of product would make a great gift for the wine enthusiast in your life!
