Tell Me I'm Not The Only Mom Who's Done This? #Smilestones

Tracking PixelThis is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Orajel Kids.

Imagine if you will the following scenario. It's just after 9pm on a Monday. As a mom, you've just survived solo bedtime with your three kids ages 4, 2 and 3 weeks. Although part of you wants to pour a glass of wine and sink into the couch, the smarter half of you knows that it'll be too soon before the baby wakes to be fed so it's best that you get yourself to bed immediately.

Standing in your bathroom, you reach for the toothpaste. It isn't until the mangled, twisted and rolled up tube is in your hand that you realize you used the last little bit earlier this morning. You contemplate going downstairs for the scissors but realize that the trek is much too far and kind of crazy. As it is, just down the hall is the kid's bathroom and you know what that means.

If it's good enough for them, it's gotta be good enough for you, right? And that's when you do it. You unscrew the cap to your son's Thomas the Tank Engine Orajel Kids Training toothpaste and squirt a healthy adult-sized bead onto the head of your toothbrush.

The verdict? Well, it's kind of delicious in that, "I just visited the dentist as a kid and chose the berry-mint flavor flouride tray." And despite it's sweet candy-like flavor, my teeth did feel pretty clean afterwards.

It's no secret that it's tasty, after all my kids love brushing with this stuff morning, noon and night. That's right, here in the M household we brush our teeth three times a day. This routine started way back when the oldest cut his very first tooth nearly four years ago. Since that very moment both my husband and I have worked very hard to instill good dental hygiene habits in each of our sons, even if that means singing, dancing and "acting a fool" each time to make it more "fun" and less "work."

Desperate to end their "battle of the bedtime brush," friends of ours recently asked us what tips or tricks we used with our kids for getting them not only to brush their teeth but also to do so willingly and excitedly. In addition to a little song and dance, a good character brush always helps and we can always count on Orajel to come through with a favorite. From Elmo to Bubble Guppies, plenty of "friends" have aided us in our efforts to make brushing fun.

As for the effectiveness of the toothpaste, we've taken the two older boys to the dentist for their initial visits and both received excellent reports with nary a cavity to be found. In fact, our oldest just graduated from the Orajel Training paste to the Anti-Cavity Fluoride paste now that he's demonstrated the ability and understanding that he absolutely cannot swallow the "Bubble Guppies" kind.

As a parent, that's one of the things I love most about the Orajel brand. Whether your child is teething, training or starting to brush on their own Orajel has you covered during every stage of oral development.

In addition to making brushing your child's teeth a blast, Orajel wants to celebrate your child's smiling milestones- or "Smilestones!" Share your favorite Smilestones on http://on.fb.me/1mFhyj2 - from baby's first tooth to child's first day of school - and you can be entered to win a grand prize trip for a family of four to Beaches Resorts!

Tell me, what tips or tricks have you used to make brushing fun with your children?
