A {Not So} Boring Day In The Life Of This SAHM.

fantastic company!Tracking Pixel

I'm not going to lie. Being a stay at home mom can get a little monotonous after a while. Imagine doing the same exact thing day in and day out every single day for days on end. I'm not just talking about doing the same things but also eating, singing playing the same things over and over and over again, day in and day out. Sounds like some kind of awful, doesn't it? But it's true. If your stay-at-home days look anything like mine then please, raise your fifth-time reheated mug of already cold coffee high in solidarity.

Not quite sure what I'm talking about? Here, take a glance at just a snippet of our days here in the M household:

It's 7am and I'm startled awake by two toddler dictators demanding breakfast. Since one of them is still well within the confines of his crib, I can only hear the incessant, "Mama? Mama? DOWN? MAMA?" as opposed to his brother's requests which are accompanied by frequent pokes to my eyes, nose and ears. Half awake, I wrangle their bodies into underwear, diapers and day clothes. Somehow I manage to choose the wrong striped shirt, a wild affront to my three year old. Small fire extinguished, we head downstairs to start our day.

By 8am, waffles are toasted, bananas sliced and I'm granted five whole minutes to sit down and enjoy my coffee which I completely forgot to brew. I start the coffeemaker and just as the warm aroma of Life begins to fill my kitchen, breakfast has literally done to the dog and I'm being summoned to release the heathens from their confines at the table.

Many thanks to the 9am morning cartoon lineup and an entire box of baby wipes which has been lovingly thrown throughout the family room, the toddler dictators are pacified long enough for me to sit down and sip my coffee. Mmm, the taste of sanity.

By 10am, we're on our way out the door for the first of two play dates we have scheduled today. Unfortunately I haven't had time to shower which means I'm extra thankful for my brand new Lookmatic {clickable link} eyeglasses which not only draw attention away from the bags underneath my eyes, but also add an air of "Look, I'm really trying" to today's play date ensemble. Even though these particular frames are a bit outside of my comfort zone, I love that they're a bit hipster-trendy and make for a great accessory to any outfit from yoga pants and sweatshirts to leggings, cardigans and scarves.

Because I know you'll ask, I'm wearing the Davenport frames {clickable link} in Tortoise Shell with Cobalt blue accent. In my twenty-eight years of wearing eyeglasses, these frames are hands down, my absolute favorites.

At just $95 a pair, Lookmatic glasses are stylish and affordable so that your glasses can be an accessory rather than an unfashionable, burdensome necessity. Lookmatic makes it possible to rock a new look almost every day of the week!

From 11am-12:30pm, I watch as the boys play with reckless abandon and virtually trash someone else's house for a change. Grateful for this small amount of adult interaction, I manage to catch up on reality TV, vaccine schedules and the latest preschool gossip all before it's time for lunch.

Back home for naps and quiet time at 1pm, I work to achieve the world record for most things accomplished in an hour and a half. Before the youngest wakes, I've scheduled doctors appointments, baked pumpkin muffins, created another list of baby names which my husband will likely veto, changed out the washer and dryer, prepped tonight's dinner, showered and blow dried my hair (can you believe it?) and managed to change into something that doesn't make my already large and in charge baby bump look even more large and in charge. Once again, I'm loving how my Lookmatic eyeglasses bring my look together, making me just a bit more polished. A bit more fancier than normal.

Do you stress out when it comes time to purchase new frames? I do. Using Lookmatic's Home Try On Program, you can choose up to give pairs of glasses to try on. Once you find your favorite pair, you simply customize your frames, lenses and prescription to place your order online!

At 3pm we're off to the local library for Arts and Crafts followed by a snack date with our friends at the local playground. After countless "You cannot eat the glues" and "don't point those scissors at your brother," I can't help but glance at my watch and count down just how many more hours are left until Daddy Gets Home and I can clock out of motherhood and that's when I remember that I prepped dinner on a day that my husband and I actually have plans to eat outside of our home, together, sitting down at the table without having to shout over our children or swat away the tiny little hands begging for tastes of what Mommy and Daddy are having. This is not our normal. In fact, I can't remember the last time we went out to eat, just the two of us.

I send the usual 5pm text reminding my husband that we do, indeed, have plans for the evening and I wonder to myself how he could ever forget such a monumental occasion that happens only once in a blue moon. I rush home with the boys to prep them their usual dinner of {insert protein here), peas and applesauce and while they're occupied with playing Who Can Annoy The Dog More and Who Can Stack The Couch Pillows Higher Before Throwing Their Bodies Into Them, I manage to change into something a little less "Mom" and a little more, "Remember The Woman You Married."

While my husband bathes and jammies the boys, I make sure the requisite emergency information is up to date and well within access of the sitter. I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror and I kind of want to slap my own behind, what for looking as good as I do after two kids and pregnant with number three. I debate whether or not I should lose the glasses but then I remember how much my husband loves them. They stay and secretly, I like that they give me this kind of alter ego. Sassy AP, not just Mom of 2.5 and domestic goddess AP.

From 7-9:30pm, even though we swear we aren't going to talk about our kids during a kid-free night out, we can't help but talk about how suddenly grown up they both seem. How proud we are of Carter, how amazed we are at how quickly Mac picks things up, being the second child. We make an unplanned stop for late night fro-yo on our ride home and upon walking in the door, pay our wonderful sitter who assures us that the boys were nothing but angels. She should try spending the morning with them or that fateful hour between 4 and 5pm, I think to myself.

I kick off my heels, creep up the stairs and peek in on them. Sleeping soundly just as we had expected. With foreheads kissed, I tip-toe out and wander into our room where I quickly change out of my date night costume into something much more comfortable, my mom-i-form of black yoga pants, tank top and cardigan. It feels kind of like doing the Reverse Superman, just without the telephone both and red cape.

It's after 10:30pm now which is way late according to Parents Of Two standards. I place my Lookmatic glasses in their case on my night stand and head into the bathroom where I fight my husband, elbows at the ready, for a place at our small sink.

As we fall into bed together, we both agree, it's been a good day. An ordinary day but a good one at that. Looking to add a new pair of frames to your every day? Maybe you're looking for a new pair of sunglasses! Either way, be sure to use the code below for 20% off your Lookmatic order!
